Rory was at the double against Rangers
It was a young side that travelled to take on Rangers today at Murray Park with only the experienced figures of Michael Fraser, Iain Vigurs and Rory McAllister to call upon. It was striker McAllister, playing in a less familiar wide right midfield role who fired us into a two goal lead at half-time.
In the 14th minute Zander Sutherland beat his man down the left and crossed to Rory to finish past Gers goalkeeper Neil Alexander, giving him no chance. Five minutes before the break we made it two and it was a carbon copy of the first, again Zander slung in a cross from the left and Rory let fly with a volley which smashed past Alexander.
The Rangers side featuring the likes of Alexander, Charlie Adam, Da Marcus Beasley, Christian Dailly and Chris Burke however came out strongly in the second half and within 30 seconds had pulled a goal back. Nacho Novo sprinted down the right and his cut back into the centre allowed Da Marcus Beasley to cushion the ball home past Michael Fraser.
Michael Fraser produced a good stop from Beasley in the 57th minute but just after the hour mark he could nothing to prevent the equaliser when Beasley's pass released Nacho Novo behind our defence. Once he lifted the ball over the goalkeeper he nodded home into an empty net.
