It was an experienced looking side that took to the field this afternoon for the reserve clash against Motherwell at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.  With messers Wilson, Proctor, McBain, Vigurs and Rooney all given a run out against a well side featuring mainly under 19's.

It was a pretty uneventful first half which saw a Zander Sutherland effort blocked on the line by a Motherwell defender in 16 minutes and ten minutes later a Rory McAllister low drive fizzed wide.  Motherwell hit the post from a well taken free kick by Ross Forbes after a foul by Lionel Djebi-Zadi on McPake which saw the big defender booked.

We opened the scoring on the hour mark when good skill by Rory McAllister took him clear of the Motherwell defence in the box, he saw his shot beaten away by the Well goalkeeper but Adam Rooney was alert to the rebound and knocked the ball home from close range.

Fifteen minutes later we extended our lead after Lionel Djebi-Zadi was brought down in the box and from the resulting penalty Adam Rooney coolly slotted the ball home with the goalkeeper going the opposite way.

On the 84th minute we made it three with a quick breakaway goal, Roy McBain released Adam Rooney down the right and the striker charged into the box before sweeping the ball across goal for young Zander Sutherland to hit the ball into the net first time.

In the remaining minutes we completed the scoring, Zander Sutherland played across a good ball from the left into the box for Adam Rooney to rise and head towards goal only for the Motherwell goalkeeper to push the ball away.  Midfielder Dale Gillespie latched onto the rebound and smashed the ball home.

Under 19 defender Michael Finnis gave an impressive performance in the back line where he looked composed and that will have surely pleased the coaching staff.
