We welcomed Hibernian to the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium today looking to put the disappointment of last Saturday's defeat to Hamilton Academical behind us. Manager Craig Brewster made one change to the team that started with striker Adam Rooney replacing the injured Russell Duncan which meant a more orthodox 4-4-2 formation. Youngsters Zander Sutherland and Iain Vigurs came onto the bench with David Proctor and Grant Munro also missing out through injury. Donald Park and John Rankin made returns in the green of Hibs looking to improve their record of not winning or scoring in the last five attempts.
We started brighter than last Saturday and came close to opening the scoring in the 3rd minute but a superb save from goalkeeper Andy McNeil prevented Ross Tokely from netting his first goal of the season with a powerful header after a Rooney header across goal.
In the 21st minute we opened the scoring, an excellent through ball by Ian Black from midfield released Don Cowie behind the Hibs left back, he stepped inside and fired a left footed shot towards goal from 15 yards which deflected off defender Chris Hogg and nestled in the bottom corner of the net.
Seven minutes later Hibs really should have equalised when a long ball over the top caught out our defence and Colin Nish found himself one on one with Michael Fraser but from only 10 yards he fired wildly over the bar.
With 31 minutes played a Steven Fletcher long range effort was spilled by Michael Fraser but he reacted well to saving the follow up from the lurking Dean Shiels and we remained ahead.
Half-time score: ICT 1 (Cowie 21 mins) - Hibernian 0
Within 30 seconds of the re-start Hibs had found an equaliser when an Alan O'Brien shot was deflected into the path of Colin Nish who finished well for his third goal of the season.
Colin Nish came inches close to his second in the 51st minute rising high above Phil McGuire to head against the post from an Alan O'Brien cross from the left flank.
In the 57th minute we made our first substitution on the 57th minute with Dougie Imrie replaced by Lionel Djebi-Zadi on the left flank. Two minutes later Andy McNeil again made a good stop to prevent us from going back in front when he tipped over a strong Phil McGuire header after a header back across goal by Andy Barrowman.
Twenty five minutes before the end youngster Iain Vigurs made his first appearance of the season coming on in the centre of the park for Roy McBain.
Referee Eddie Smith pulled out his yellow card on the 69th minute for a handball offence by Ross Tokely.
Testimonial man Barry Wilson entered the field of play with ten minutes left for play as we went pushing for a winner with Andy Barrowman making way.
Ian Black picked up a booking on the 83rd minute for tripping Filipe Morais as Hibs broke quickly upfield.
Neither team could make the breakthrough as play became very scrappy in the midfield area and the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
