French defender Kenny Gillet has been snapped up by Caley Thistle manager Terry Butcher following successful trials.

Gillet, 24, spent the last three years with Barnet, leaving this summer after a contract dispute -- then turning down an improved offer from the club's new manager Mark Stimson. He made 89 starts for Barnet, whose website states they were very disappointed to see him leave.

Gillet is a left back who has also played left-side centre half and Terry Butcher says:"Kenny has impressed us. He's still young but has good experience and gives us the left-side balance and competition we've looked for."

Born in Bordeaux, Kenny played French First and Second Division football with Caen before heading to the UK. He is a close friend of Arsenal left back Gael Clichy and has been staying with him in London.

Now Gael will have to travel a bit further to see his fellow Frenchman!
