FORRES 1 - ICT 3
We took on Highland League side Forres Mechanics this afternoon (Saturday) in the second of our pre-season fixtures. Right back Kevin McCann, who signed on loan until January from Hibernian on Friday night made his ICT debut. There was also a starting place for trialist Callum Morris at centre back but Garry MacKay-Steven failed a late fitness test and missed out.
Youngster Graeme Shinnie came close early on to opening the scoring when he let fly with a left footed drive but the ball fizzed just past the post. On the 22nd minute we took the lead after some great individual skill by Danni Sanchez on the right, he nutmegged the Forres left back before pulling the ball back for Eric Odhiambo to force over the line from three yards.
Three minutes later and we had doubled our lead with Odhiambo once again netting, a Danni Sanchez cross into the box was headed back across the face of the goal and with Forres keeper Knight posted missed Eric volleyed into the net.
At half-time we made seven changes to the side most notably places for trialists Andy Milne and Darren Lough in the back four. It took until the 65th minute to add number three, Roy McBain strode through the Forres midfield and his well timed through ball released Eric Odhiambo and he skipped round keeper Knight and side footed into an empty net.
Youngster Jack Sutherland replaced Graeme Shinnie five minutes later on the right of midfield. Despite numerous efforts on the Forres goal it was the home side that scored next when seven minutes before the end striker Ian Penwright fired home from the edge of the box with the ball going in off the post.
