GAFFER'S AFTERMATCH COMMENTS
He said "I think we made the least chances ever this season possibly. However Morton are a big side, they're well organised - fighting and scrapping. Everyone was getting frustrated. I was just glad to get the first 45 minutes out of the way. We were then able in the second half to get the ball into an area where we could press them.
I was really concerned about this game because I did think we were going to struggle. The tanks were empty on one or two. We had a tough week and you could see that today I think. When you get tired your decisions aren't quite sharp and your movements aren't quite sharp. I said to the players before the game we needed persistence and patience which we did show.
It was a fantastic sight seeing a local boy score the winner - Nick Ross. He doesn't have a goal bonus in his new contract but he'll want one now!! He's a lovely boy - I'm absolutely thrilled for him!! He hasn't played a game for a while, it's incredible.
He was substitute on Tuesday and I just had a feeling for him today. I had this gut feeling - he shows good things in training. It's great for the club for someone to come through the system and score the winner for the first team, that's nice.
Earlier on in the season we might not have gone on to win that game. We might have conceded or even lost it, but I wasn't concerned, it was just a matter of time for me when we were going to score. For us to get the goal when we did was just fantastic.
I'm delighted; it's been a good week. The boys are elated now but tomorrow will hit them hard."
