It was back to the bread and butter of league business this Saturday a week after going out of the Active Nation Scottish Cup to SPL side Kilmarnock. Manager Terry Butcher made three changes to the side defeated 3-0, out went Lee Cox who picked an injury in training, Lionel Djebi-Zadi and Dani Sanchez, who both took places on the bench. Coming into the starting eleven were Russell Duncan, Stuart Golabek and Eric Odhiambo.
It was a very quiet opening spell to the match with both teams sizing each other up and very little goal mouth action. On a bumpy and heavily sanded pitch there was plenty of poor passing from both sides and that resulted in a disappointing display for the fans.
On two minutes a Stuart Golabek deep cross found Adam Rooney at the back post but the Irish striker couldn't put his shot on target. Eric Odhiambo and Adam Rooney both had shots from long range deflected wide for corners as we continued to struggle to test Raith keeper David McGurn.
Returning full back Stuart Golabek picked a yellow card on 21 minutes for a late tackle. With 66 minutes played Eric Odhiambo was replaced by Dani Sanchez as we looked to break the deadlock.
On 67 minutes we took the lead, a poor clearance from goalkeeper David McGurn went straight to Adam Rooney and despite the Raith number 1 attempting to wrestle the ball back, Adam skipped round him and finished into the net for his 14th goal of the season.
Within three minutes we had secured number two, a Stuart Golabek cross from the left found Jonny Hayes lurking in the box and he beat McGurn with a powerful low drive.
On 76 minutes and it was 3-0, a fine Jonny Hayes corner was headed down by Ross Tokely to Nauris Bulvitis he mishit his shot slightly but somehow it still found the net.
Adam Rooney broke clear of the Raith Rovers defence as we went looking for number four however Raith goalkeeper David McGurn made amends for his earlier mistake by denying the striker with a good save low at Rooney's feet.
Jonny Hayes was replaced by Roy McBain with ten minutes to go and seven minutes later Daniel Stratford came on for Richie Foran.
However number four arrived right at the final whistle, substitute Daniel Stratford smashing home a low drive into the back of the net for his first goal in ICT colours.
The three points mean we push to within two points of second place Ross County and seven points of leaders Dundee.
