He said "It was a real Cup tie as far as we're concerned and a bonus game as if we had lost the game tonight, we lost to an SPL team. I asked the players to work harder than the opposition tonight, if they worked harder than the other team then we had a chance at winning the match. It took us a while to get going however the boys have trained indoors and on beaches in gales and freezing conditions, like any team really, but we've not had a chance to stretch out legs on a real pitch and get going which is why the first 20-30 minutes we didn't play at or get to any of the levels that we have done before. But we were up against a very good side who keep the ball very well. I was very pleased with the way things were going in the first half because we had the better chances, we had the better positions in and around their box and when we got the goal it was nice because we then had something to defend and something to hang on to.

It was great when Dougie came on as I told the substitutes to make an impact and Dougie certainly did; first touch and it was a corner. Then of course the second goal. I thought he was going to get treatment and then he gets up like Lazarus and scores a goal. That goal really helped us enormously.

I'm really, really happy for the players because they've worked so hard.  Kilmarnock away the next one, that's a difficult one but we've nothing to fear, nothing to lose again. We'll look forward to it but we have Airdrie on Saturday and that has to be our focus now.
