 Match Report

We welcomed Dundee to the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium today with only the hard work of many volunteers ensuring the game went ahead after they cleared the snow of the pitch.  Winger Jonny Hayes picked up a hamstring injury and he was replaced by Eric Odhiambo on the right hand side in what was the only change from the team that drew 0-0 with Dunfermline last weekend.

Dundee started the game strongly and Ryan Esson produced a good save from Colin McMenamin in only eight minutes after he was given a sight of goal in the penalty box.  Five minutes later and Lee Cox picked up a yellow card for a late challenge.

With 17 minutes gone Lionel Djebi-Zadi produced a vital block to prevent striker McMenamin getting a shot on goal and two minutes later a fine cross from Adam Rooney on the left almost found Dani Sanchez in the six yard box but he failed to connect with the ball.

Two minutes into injury time and Dundee were awarded a penalty kick when referee Steve Nicholls adjudged that Lionel Djebi-Zadi had pulled down the pacey Leigh Griffths as he bore down on goal.  Griffths dusted himself down and smashed home the spot kick.

Half-time score: ICT 0 - Dundee 1 (Griffths 45 mins)

Two minutes into the second period and Lionel Djebi-Zadi came close to making amends when he fired in a 25 yard strike but Rab Douglas produced a good fingertip save to prevent the equaliser.  Shortly afterwards the assistant referee alerted the referee to something Rab Douglas had done in his box, he was cautioned and we were awarded an indirect free kick on the six yard line. A touch from Adam Rooney set up Richie Foran but the Irishman's chip came crashing back of the crossbar.

With 57 minutes played we equalised, Dundee midfielder Brian Kerr was short with a back pass to his goalkeeper and Adam Rooney nipped in and drove forward before slotting the ball through Ran Douglas's legs.

On the 65th minute we made our first substitution of the afternoon, Dougie Imrie replaced Richie Foran.  A fine sweeping move from ICT on the 72nd minute saw Rab Douglas produce another good stop, Imrie fed Sanchez who in turn laid the ball off to Rooney.  His through ball found Odhiambo who stepped inside and pass the ball back into Rooney's path but his drive was pushed away by Douglas.

Eleven minutes before the end and Lee Cox missed a great opportunity to get the winner.  Some good play down the right hand side saw Stuart Duff release David Proctor in the box with a reverse pass and his low drive cut back went all the way through to the unmarked Cox but he blasted the ball high over the bar.

Robert Eagle entered the field with seven minutes left for play coming on for Eric Odhiambo.  Within seconds we had spurned another great chance after a good move down the left.  Robert Eagle released Stuart Duff and his cross into the box was stepped over by Adam Rooney for Dani Sanchez but somehow from five yards he put the ball wide of the target.

With 85 minutes gone Gary Harkins picked up a second yellow card for a foul on David Proctor and was flashed the red card.  Ryan Esson once again proved his worth right at the death when he got himself in the way of a Leigh Griffths low strike.
