He said "It wasn't a classic; it wasn't pretty, gritty cup tie football really.  I thought we dominated the first half and got a lucky goal in some respects.  I think Jonny Hayes was going to tap it in at the far post.  It's bit of skill or a fluke or whatever you want to call it but at least Robert was putting it back in to a dangerous area and we were able to get a goal from that.  The half-time talk didn't change because I still thought we dominated the first-half and to get the goal at that time was a bonus for us.  The second-half was a different story though as Ross County came at us, changed their system and made it difficult for us.  They had one or two opportunities and Ryan Esson had to make some really good saves and the back 4 had to work really hard but even then we still had opportunities to close the game out at the end.  The fact that there was only one goal is quite unbelievable; there were quite a few chances for both teams.

I'm very pleased with the players because they've worked hard this week.  We've been up and down so many times this season.  Hopefully now we can stay up and we have Queen of the South next week and we've finally won a game at home after a long spell, we just need to win at home in the league now.

I think it gives the players a lot of confidence in terms of beating Ross County, winning at home, a clean sheet, giving our fans something to cheer about at long last and looking forward.  Beating Ross County was a big thing for us because they'd already come here, won 3-1 and murdered us on the day.  So we knew we had to do a lot better, which we did but it wasn't pretty.

The players themselves are suffering from a little bit of lack of confidence because when you're up and down all the time it's hard to keep your confidence high.  They should have gained a lot of confidence from this today and hopefully we'll have a good week's training.  I've got Eric Odhiambo and Dougie Imrie back in first team training now so they're pretty close to returning, which is great in terms of competition for places.

It's nice for the Club and the supporters to be in a final, but that's put to bed now, it's not until November.  We'll look forward to that when it comes around but there's a good number of points to pick up between now and then."
