 Match Report

Manager Terry Butcher made six changes to the side that defeated Montrose last Saturday in the Alba Challenge Cup for today's visit from Annan Athletic in the 1st round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.  Out went Ryan Esson, Nick Ross, Russell Duncan, Richie Foran and Andy Barrowman, with the last two ruled out through injury.  Ross and Esson took places on the bench and into the starting line up came Kyle Allison, Robert Eagle, Dougie Imrie, Adam Rooney and new signings Nauris Bulvitis and Dani Sanchez.  After their good showing midweek against Golspie youngsters Graeme Shinnie and Shane Sutherland were included on the bench.

There was a quiet opening to the game however we had plenty of possession in front of the packed Annan defence.  On the 21st minute we took the lead, Dougie Imrie drove down the right hand side of the box and stood up a great cross into the box for Adam Rooney to head the ball downward into the net.

Dougie Imrie picked up a booking three minutes before the break for a late challenge on Annan defender Aaron Muirhead.  Shortly afterwards defender Muirhead was stretchered off and landing badly at a free kick in our 18 yard box.

With 52 minutes gone Dougie Imrie was once again the provider as we extended our lead, Imrie dashed down the right and his cross to the back post was headed into the net by Robert Eagle for his first goal in ICT colours.

Robert Eagle came close to scoring his second in the 62nd minute when he latched onto a great through ball by Ross Tokely but Annan goalkeeper Craig Summersgill raced from his line to block with his chest.

Midfielder Daniel Stratford picked up a yellow card on the 70th minute for tugging at an Annan Athletic jersery.  Two minutes later Dougie Imrie scored the third which well deserved for his afternoon's work.. Lionel Djebi-Zadi released Dani Sanchez down the left and his low cross towards the back post was slammed home by Dougie into the roof of the net.

Youngster Shane Sutherland replaced Adam Rooney on the 75th minute.  Within seconds the forward was unlucky to see his right foot shot go flying across goal from an acute angle.  Eleven minutes before the end Graeme Shinnie was given the chance to impress again taking the place of Dougie Imrie.

Three minutes before the end new signing Dani Sanchez put the seal on the win when he guided the ball into the net after a deft set up touch by Shane Sutherland.
