RESERVE RESULT
It was an experienced Caley Thistle side that took on Falkirk today at home in the second last Reserve fixture of the season. Two of the Club's Under 19 players started with Graeme Shinnie slotting in at left back for Richard Hastings who was ill and Stuart Leslie starting on the right of midfield.
With five minutes played Richie Byrne had to be replaced having suffered a back strain and Under 19 captain Struan Scott-Woodhouse took his place at the back. Shortly afterwards Falkirk took the lead when Jay Lang played a one two in midfield and fired home a shot in at the post from 20 yards.
With 17 minutes played Iain Vigurs passed up a couple of opportunities in quick succession, the first when he stabbed a Russell Duncan knockdown into Robert Olejnik's arms from 10 yards. Within seconds his left footed drive flashed wide of goal.
On the 26th minute an Andy Barrowman header from an Iain Vigurs corner kick was cleared off the line by an alert Falkirk defender. Various other good opportunities were passed up and that theme continued on the 40th minute. An Iain Vigurs header down in the box following a cross from the right landed at the feet of Adam Rooney with his back to goal. He swivelled and turned and looked certain to equalise but his shot went wide of the post.
Youngster Gavin Morrison replaced Russell Duncan at the break. Eleven minutes into the second half Adam Rooney fired wide of goal from 20 yards after some good build up play. With fourteen minutes left for play a good run and one two by left back Graeme Shinnie saw him charge into the box but after cutting in on his right foot his effort lacked the power to trouble Olejnik and he gathered easily.
